Intensify App Reviews

Great unbelievable

I have allready a lot of photo-software also much more expensive ones - and normally I also don’t rate any software - but in this case I really have to. This Software changes uninteresting pictures in spectaluar ones by one click. I even haven’t by now tested the additional customised settings because its not necessary due to the great standard filters. Keep on rocking is my conclusion on this software - five stars for sure.

very very weak programme

If you work seriously with your Photographs - you just do not need this.

Intensify Awesome!

Great program for the amateur photographer. Some great presets. Will help with anyone starting out with photo corrections. Bought it as my DSLR camera is getting a little outdated and I am an amateur photographer that can use all the help he can get.

Very Good for the Price

You can spend much more on plugins like onOne or Topaz. They will probably do more for you but if you want to get started with something at a more reasonable price, you could do a lot worse than Intensify. They also sell a pro version on their website that will work as a plugin for programs such as Lightroom and CSx. This has provided me with some very useful tools when working with an image. Given it supports layers, this is an added bonus.

Architecture Details finally come to life

Well i have been waiting for a piece of software like this for a long time, being i major in commercial photography, Architectural work is a large part of our business and we always wanted to have control over the uncontrolables in our shooting. Having the opportunity to Beta test this software i was forst off super excited of the ease on using this right from the start. with a few minutes moving around the screen it was easy to navigate through presets, toggle view to see my original files as well to work onto the layers and the opacity of the layers. The micro sharpness is amazing and the way the details can be brought out. In many HDR photos the issue is that the photographer makes a standard HDR photo and it looks flat, they rely on software to generate such a spectrum of stops that to the human eye it looks flat, with INTENSIFY it allows you to work with structure and details that help darken shadows and bring out the details that with our eyes we see. When starting with a great exposure this software is the only software i choose to use, its amazing that i dont have to go between lightroom and photoshop constantly looking to get the results we look for, its all in one place now. INTENSIFY by MACPHUN is amazing and can’t wait for upates and to see the exciting changes ahead from this cutting edge company.

File Format

A really good program to perk up photos. One complaint is the file format. Please write an update so the finished product can be saved in jpeg format. As it is, one must take a screenshot of the adjusted photograph in order to send to anyone who doesnt have this program.

Great software, easy to use

Intensify will make your photos pop. Lots of presets for people who don’t want to mess with things manually. With a lot of flexibility to get the look you want. You can save your edited photos as jpegs.

A useful complement to Lightroom and Photoshop

I prefer to use Lightroom and Photoshop as much as possible, and I only buy a plugin if I cannot replicate its effects in LR or PS. Intensify is one of those few plugins. I ended up buying the App Store version that doesn’t run as a plugin because I can still set it up in Lightroom as an external editor, and because I discovered that the plugin version does not allow me to save my work (as a proprietary MPI file) and reopen it later to tweak the settings. Although a key feature of the plugin version is that it opens RAW files, Intensify does not have any lens correction or healing tools, so for me there is no benefit to opening RAW files directly, and instead I use Lightroom to correct an image before opening it in Intensify. The App Store version does everything I need it to do. Intensify provides far more control of contrast than Lightroom or Photoshop, and it adjusts contrast without excessive halos or other artifacts. When I am adjusting an image in Lightroom that I plan to edit in Intensify, I do not apply any clarity or strong contrast, leaving that for Intensify. I also apply only a minimal amount of sharpening, as Intensify has its own sharpening function, and I have found that if I bring a pre-sharpened image into Intensify it can sometimes create artifacts along high-contrast edges. The key adjustments in Intensify are “Pro Contrast,” “Structure” and “Detail.” Pro Contrast adjusts contrast separately for shadows, midtones and highlights, with an Offset slider that adjusts the median value for each tonal range. Structure enhances texture, particularly in areas of continuous contrast (a light-coloured wall, for example). It also provides separate adjustments for shadows, midtones and highlights. Detail is a sharpening function with separate adjustments for small, medium and large details (similar to using different radius settings in Photoshop) and separate adjustments for highlights and shadows. There’s a Masking slider that apparently works the same as the one in Lightroom, but there’s no ability to hold down the Option key while adjusting the Masking to see the black-and-white sharpening mask, so it’s a bit of a guessing game. Layers are a great feature of Intensify. Adjustments are applied on layers (that can be renamed by double-clicking on them, which is a feature I haven’t seen described anywhere) that can optionally have a mask (and reduced opacity). The Brush and Eraser tools work well for creating a mask, but for some reason it’s not possible to set different brush parameters for each. For example, if I want to Erase with a soft brush at 50% and then paint back with a harder Brush at 100%, have to adjust the brush parameters every time I switch from the Brush to Eraser and back again. The Gradient tool works well, too, but unlike Lightroom it cannot be adjusted once it has been applied. The online help for Intensify isn’t terribly useful, but fortunately there are several videos on Vimeo that do a good job of demonstrating how to use the app. Overall, Intensify is a great piece of software, and the price is right. I would rate it 4.5 stars if Apple allowed half star ratings as there are a few minor missing features, but as its a brand new version 1.0 release, I rounded up to 5 stars.

Love it!

So easy to work with, great results. Much much more than I expected at this price point.

Not that easy

I tought I could modify my vacation pictures easily. It end up using to much of my time. I hate it

Great!

I’m sure that there is lots more to learn in this program, but I can do remarkable things to a photo without a steep learning curve. I’m not going back to some of the big name, more complicated editors. I love it!. Thank you!

I don’t even...

This app… Is amazing!!!!!! I CAN’T UNDERSTAND HOW SUCH A USEFUL APP CAN ONLY BE 25 BUCKS!!! I’m just so exited seeing the drastic change in my picture quality! I just can’t stop using this app! I was considering apperture but for me, this app is waaaaaaay better! Get this app! Trust me, you won’t regret it!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MACPHUN SOFTWARE! :)

Unbelievable...

This is an incredible app… for the price ! I just bought it and already, I’m very impressed. The kind of editing power that you have is awesome. You can save, export and share your documents in any formats. You can undo your editing as many times as you want. You can save and create presets so easily. You can’t go wrong with that App ! Great company… keep up the good work !

Only 4 out of 5.. why?

Because there is no CROP!!!

Great app and well worth the cost

I just installed this today and it’s a great app. There are a ton of options just with the built-in presets alone. The app also includes settings that can be tweaked to really change and enhance the photos. It’s a really great app and well worth the price.

Love it

Excellent and easy

good filters, poor app so far

Slow and glitchy. Even editing small photos with awesome Macs, it takes a couple seconds to apply filters. Comparable changes in other apps are instantaneous. There are many non-standard user interface elements, and glaring inconsistenies between documentation and how the app actually works. (It’s particularly maddening that there’s no keyboard shortcut for showing the original, despite what the docs say: neither the space bar or key works as advertised.) Rudimentary export options, no export preview. No crop? I realize it’s a specialized apop, but c’mon: if an app manipulates images, it needs crop. There are no horrible problems here, but I keep feeling disappointed and annoyed by all kinds of little hassles. It seems very promising, but it needs a bunch of polishing and attention to the details.

Wonderful, but If only...

It is a wonderful software! I’ve enjoyed using it very much since I found it about 8 months ago; creating some astonishing result of the pictures that I had originally found them doll and hopeless! However, every single time I wished it had just one more tool/feature: Cropping/Scaling as well of the rest of its very thoughtful and useful tools. It would become my one and only post proccessing software if that little shortcoming could be solved!

Instructions

Sure there are some Vimeo tutorials, but they seem to be designed for promotional purposes rather than learning the basics. Why can’t there be an instructional manual on how to use the various tools and how to save. Everytime I adjust the side-bars for warmth, tonality, the systme doesn’t save the changes. Its quite frustrating and leaves the new learners in the dark.

I have this on my iMac. An alright app with a lot of presets

If you want a short cut for images, this can be a quick fix, but it does need tweeking on certain photos. I find it depends on what youre trying to do, and with what images, before it goes over the top (at least for me). I have it on my iMac and just purchased it for the laptop so its not so bad. If you want to avoid professional apps like photoshop, (running the risk of Creative Suite turning off like it would before: i.e. demos, (should you happen to miss a monthly payment), one cant access their work until the payment is made and important to keep an eye on such accounts. Therefore in the long run, this is a good alternative in most cases. It can need work in the side panel adjustments though, to get some images to do what it is you want it to do. Overall I find I bounce between most apps I have even though I do have the complete Adobe Suite 6. I bypassed doing the Creative Suite thing and find at times these apps can be faster and more direct when in a hurry.
